During October 18 and 19, in the framework of the Salón Piscina y Wellness Barcelona 2017, the Wellness Spa Experience was held, where great professionals from our sector met to address specialized issues in spas, health and well-being to support this type of business today.
Meritxell Llorca, CEO of BSpa Consulting, had the honor of moderating both the presentations and the final discussion table final.
In a first session, several speakers discussed the dynamization and profitability of the thermal centers, with the aim of having the attendees know about facilities and equipment recommended for an improvement of the service, the importance of water quality and the possibilities offered by the hydrotherapy as an alternative in health and well-being, among others.
Subsequently, after starting the second block of papers, distinguished experts addressed the theme of professionalism of the sector in Spain, needs and challenges. At a subsequent discussion table, it was sought to discuss topics on the news and trends of the wellness sector at a national and international level, in a meaningful way for the attendees.
The following is a summary of the topics that are of particular interest to us, since each of the presentations is implied by the client's global experience:
Sonal Uberoi, an international specialist in the Spa business, with years of experience as a speaker at conferences, fairs and events in the spa industry and director of the consultancy Spa Balance, this time exposed the lack of leadership in spas and importance of training our managers in the "core competencies", fundamental theme for the training of the personnel who make professional life in wellness centers.
On the other hand, Lucía Peris told us about what are the main Indicators for the Spa itself to be a business unit. Lucia has a professional background of more than 15 years of experience in the sector at the head of distinguished spas and hotels, national and international. She was director and participated in the opening of the Talise Spa of the Jumeirah Chain in Mallorca and director of the Talise Ottoman in Dubai. She is currently corporate director in Europe of the Spa Palladium Hotel Group.
Likewise, César Tejedor, director of Massage Around the World and Ambassador of Global Wellness Day and Global Mentorship Program, explains how to increase profitability and excellence without increasing expenses, reflecting on the future of the wellness sector, the origins and working in depth essential concepts. This author of almost twenty books has been a precursor of integrative Wellness and works forming teams Spa in Therapies in the most outstanding hotels.
Also, Pilar M. Correcher, a specialist in aesthetics and well-being, talked about the importance of the letter of treatments and what are the key factors for the success between the center and the cosmetic firm. For 19 years Pilar was director of the Desiree School of Aesthetics (Valencia) and is a graduate in physiotherapy, lecturer and teacher at national and international level, and adviser for companies in the aesthetic and thermal sector..
Finally, Quentin Goyé exposed the ecological and natural spa as an increasingly demanded trend. Goyé is an expert in marketing and communication in beauty and wellness. He has been director of the magazine Cabines España and organizer of the Spa & Beauty Spain congress. Usually collaborates with media of the sector.
We must say that, as professionals in the sector all stand out for leaving a mark on their projects, demonstrating that a soulless wellness business can not flourish. Therefore, we have a great appreciation of the work and having attended these talks and seminars was an unparalleled experience.
Finally, we point out that the day ended Wednesday with a dinner at Casa Llotja where they were awarded the Pool & Wellness Awards 2017. You can check here which were the winners in the different categories.
Congratulations to all participants and winners!
In a future entry, we comment on everything that we experienced in the next day of the event on october 19th.
